Music at MAD

Live, informal music performances to activate the galleries.

Nov 21 through Jan 2, 2021, visitors will enjoy live music activating the galleries of the Museum. Meant to be enjoyed informally as visitors explore the art on view, performances from an international roster of celebrated instrumentalists will take place most Saturdays in accordance with the Museum’s safe social-distancing practices.

Curated by Laura Metcalf and Rupert Boyd of Boyd Meets Girl, the seven-week music series features international soloists, Grammy nominees, and members of the New York Philharmonic and the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra performing brief solo or duo acoustic sets. The artists will perform works crossing a range of genres—from classical to contemporary—that will enhance visitors’ experience with the art.

Performances take place Saturdays between 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm EST (unless otherwise noted) on the hour and half-hour and are free with museum admission.
