POWER Hour: Artist's Financial Toolkit brings the spirit of reclamation and empowerment directly to artists and creatives. The 60-minute virtual sessions feature expert speakers Rus Garofalo of Brass Taxes (Dec 3), who specializes in demystifying taxes for freelancers and artists, and April Hannah of April Hannah Coaching (Dec 5), for a focus on leadership and self-empowerment.

Together, they equip artists with the essential financial knowledge and tools needed to maximize financial wellness, stability, and sustainability in the arts. Learn practical strategies for maximizing the value of creative work, confidently navigating financial systems, and replacing outdated narratives of scarcity with a self-empowered system that serves an artist’s practice and community.

Open to all—artists, entrepreneurs, and non-artists alike—who seek to take control of their financial future and build lasting financial wellness. Attending both sessions is suggested but not required. 

This empowering virtual workshop is an urgent, practical extension of the critically acclaimed community arts project, Loose Chains Change, founded by Mia Wright-Ross. The Loose Chains Change project transforms discarded paper lottery tickets—material evidence of a predatory capitalist system targeting Black and Brown neighborhoods—into powerful, large-scale multimedia tapestries. By compensating contributors for their collected tickets, the project directly challenges the systemic cycle of "Make Your Own Luck" and begins to re-center value and hope back into the community.
