To accompany the exhibition Designing Motherhood: Things that Make and Break Our BirthsMAD will present a special screening of the 2016 documentary, Miriam: Home Delivery.  Following the screening, director Juliet Jordan with be joined by Designing Motherhood co-curator, Elizabeth Koehn for an audience Q&A. 

An intimate observation of the complete process of home birthing, Miriam: Home Delivery follows one of New York’s most prolific midwives who has helped mothers give birth at home for more than two decades and provides care to mothers in various stages of their pregnancies. We follow Miriam and a group of determined prospective mothers as they battle the unpredictable forces of nature, from bacteria to the worst Super Storm in New York history, to fulfill the miracle of birth.

About the Director

Juliet Jordan is a British documentary filmmaker, currently based in New York City. She graduated from The National Film and Television School, Beaconsfield, Britain in 1997. She works primarily in the Direct Cinema tradition.
