Ready to make a design statement? Join 2020 Artist Studio alumna Kazue Taguchi for an evening of making and designing beaded jewelry. To create distinctive pieces of wearable art, participants will transform recycled and specialty papers into refined, sculptural beads in a range of shapes and sizes. All skill levels welcome!
Design Happy Hour invites the public ages 21 and up to enjoy an open bar of wine and beer while exploring design techniques with some of the city's most exciting makers and creatives. All activities take place in the Museum’s studio classroom.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Kazue Taguchi explores the ethereal and intangible effects of light and reflection. Inspired by stained glass windows in European churches, Taguchi works with reflective materials including glass, mirrors, plastic, and light. Her work explores the various qualities of light and features a complex interplay of reflections and shadows.
Taguchi has been a resident artist at the Museum of Arts and Design, Corning Museum of Glass, Pilchuck Glass School, Cité Internationale des Arts Paris, the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, the Newark Museum, Vermont Studio Center, and Koganecho Bazaar in Yokohama, Japan. She received an MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University, a BFA at Joshibi University of Art and Design in Japan, and has studied at the Barcelona Glass Foundation.
