MAD invites NYC educators to join us for a workshop in connection with Saya Woolfalk: Empathic Universe. This program will begin with a curator-led tour of the exhibition. Affterward, there will be an artmaking workshop exploring imaginative storytelling through fiber sculpture and puppetry led by puppeteer J Hann .Hann will teach participants how to make their own hand puppets using needle-felting and embroidery techniques. Join us for a fun day connecting with fellow teachers, experimenting with new artmaking techniques, and generating new ideas to bring back to your classroom!
MAD will provide all art materials. as well as coffee and morning refreshments
New York State Educators will earn 4.5 CTLE hours.

About the Artist
J Hann is a New York City-based puppeteer and fiber artist who uses wool, fabric, yarn, and paper to create weird and whimsical puppet characters for the stage and screen. They are a three-time participant of the Eugene O'Neill Puppetry Conference, a Catapult Artist with the 2017 Chicago International Puppet Theatre Festival and have participated twice (2019/2021) as a resident artist with the Object Movement Festival. J has puppeteered in Italy, Greece, Serbia, Hong Kong, nationally, and in various venues across New York City.
