Program Description

Learn more about graffiti, an art form that has served as a voice for unheard youth since its arrival in New York in the 1970s. Read 2017 Caldecott Medal winner Radiant Child: The Story of Young Artist Jean-Michel Basquiat by Javaka Steptoe, and explore Counter-Couture: Handmade Fashion in an American Counterculture with teaching artist Carlos Martinez. Martinez will guide visitors in stenciling and designing graffiti-inspired drawings on paper.
