MAD Saturday: Family Day

Sat, Jan 9 / 11 am

On January 9th 2010, MAD launched its first Family Day event. It was a day of making, seeing, and doing at the Museum of Arts and Designs. MAD opened its galleries to families of all ages with interpretive activities crafted especially for youngsters and their adult companions. The Open Studios featured artists and projects that engaged visitors in the act of making artwork; hands-on workshops taught skills and explored materials with projects based on the exhibition Slash: Paper Under the Knife; everyone was captivated and inspired by cut-paper animation films, which included Michel Ocelot’s silhouette story Princes and Princesses.” Using the exhibition Slash: Paper Under the Knife as inspiration, Artist Educators used paper as a creative medium and source of artistic inspiration to assist families in exploring their own creativity through paper cutting, shredding, and tearing, while enjoying the artwork at MAD and the views of Central Park.
