Work with artist Heejung Cho to explore the meaning of sanctuary, in conjunction with the new exhibition Derrick Adams: Sanctuary. Cho will lead participants in building a collaborative city out of mixed media, based on personal memory, culture, and everyday experience.

At 10:30am join us for MADreads, which combines interactive story time and visual exploration to bring books to life. This week’s iteration welcomes kids and their families for a reading of Ruth and the Green Book by Calvin Alexander Ramsey and Gwen Strauss, illustrated by Floyd Cooper, the story of one black family's trip from Chicago to Alabama by car in the late 1940s. Along the way they encounter prejudice, but they also discover the Green Book, a travel guide published for decades to aid African American travelers as they faced discrimination on the roads across the country.

Please review our health and safety protocols before you arrive. MAD strongly recommends all visitors six months and older are vaccinated against Covid-19 and visitors ages two and up wear face coverings, even if vaccinated. Thank you for your cooperation.
