A designer based in Brooklyn, Burkindy hails from the West African country of Burkina Faso, from which he takes his name. In the tribal dialect of the Mossi people, “Burkindy” translates to “integrity,” something for which the artist strives in his work. He believes each piece, no matter the medium, should maintain strength of quality and character. Inspired by his African heritage, he is heavily influenced by the simplicity of tribal art, and his brass and silver jewelry frequently references sacred animals and objects. He often finds himself responding to forms found in nature, finding ways to translate their intricacy into the perfect custom piece.
