Design Happy Hour with Julia Rothman

Wed, Oct 16, 2019

Enjoy an open bar of wine and beer while exploring the creative expressivity of pattern design with illustrator and educator Julia Rothman. Design and illustrate your own hand-drawn patterned wallpaper, all with basic cutting, pasting, and Xeroxing. Create your own wallpaper inspired by Vera Paints a Scarf or a World of Anna Sui-style textile pattern. All skill levels welcome!

Julia Rothman teaches Surface Design at the School of Visual Arts in New York. She creates wallpapers, textiles, and more for Crate & Barrel, Hygge & West, Windham Fabrics, and other leading design companies. She is also the co-founder of Women Who Draw, an open directory of female professional illustrators, artists, and cartoonists with fellow illustrator Wendy MacNaughton, and has written and illustrated over ten books.

Design Happy Hours take place select Wednesday evenings in the Museum's Artist Studios space. Explore design techniques with some of the city's most exciting makers and creatives.
