A short film by Ouida Angelica Biddle

Over Lotusland is a meditative film using drone vision to capture the lavish gardens of Lotusland in Santa Barbara, California. Freed from human physical constraints, the drone camera continually re-shifts its position and warps the geometries of perspective and scale. The hovering presence of the drone registers occasionally in wind and shadow, blurring as it creates disturbances typically unseen suggesting a subtle expansion of sentience.

Lotusland’s founder, Ganna Walska, was a striking character of her time — an opera star and mystic who turned away from international high society to transform 37 acres of central California farmland into a visionary garden full of rare and ancient plant specimens from across the world.
