The Philosophy of Wabi-Sabi: A Guided Discussion and Writing Workshop

Thu, Jan 28 / 6:30 pm

The idea that human life is transient and imperfect is deeply embedded in the aesthetic culture of Japan. In recent years, the phrase wabi-sabi has become popularized in the Western world, especially in the world of design. Join MAD educators in a dialogue focused around understanding the aesthetic philosophy and the multiple meanings behind this elusive phrase. Visitors will also have the opportunity to capture their personal understanding of what wabi-sabi might mean to them through writing an original haiku.

Please review our health and safety protocols before you arrive. MAD strongly recommends all visitors six months and older are vaccinated against Covid-19 and visitors ages two and up wear face coverings, even if vaccinated. Thank you for your cooperation.
