Studio Sunday

RE-MAKE New York

Sun, Jun 1, 2014

On the first Sunday of the month, join WE-DESIGNS and Solidoodle to explore the galleries followed by a hands-on 3D printing workshop inspired by the objects in Out of Hand- a last-chance opportunity to explore digital fabrication in contemporary art.

In this family-focused workshop centered around rethinking and remaking New York City, participants will utilize 3D printing as a new design tool to rapidly prototype a new vision of the city. Why did people decide to settle on the island of Manhattan?  Why do we have so many skyscrapers?  Why are the streets in Manhattan in a grid?  Most importantly, how do architects think about and design all of this? In the workshop each family will work as a team, to chose from a series of design options to remake their own New York City building, but with a twist.

This program is suitable for ages 6 and up. At MAD, our goal is to make everyone feel comfortable and enthusiastic about the opportunity to learn through their hands while having a good time together in our galleries and studio.

Please review our health and safety protocols before you arrive. MAD strongly recommends all visitors six months and older are vaccinated against Covid-19 and visitors ages two and up wear face coverings, even if vaccinated. Thank you for your cooperation.
