Join the Museum of Arts and Design for a unique day trip to New Jersey. The day will include a visit to Mana Contemporary in the morning with a tour of exhibitions, broad overview of Mana facilities, and a selection of artist studios. In the afternoon, the group will visit The Newark Museum, which includes a tour of selected highlights followed by a docent tour of the Museum’s renowned Tibetan Collection.

9:30am: Guests meet at the Museum at 2 Columbus Circle

9:45am: Departure from MAD
Guests will travel via private chartered bus to Jersey City

Mana Contemporary
We begin the day with a visit to Mana Contemporary in Jersey City. Founded in 2011, Mana Contemporary is a 1.8 million-square-foot leading arts destination dedicated to celebrating the creative process. Headquartered in a former tobacco warehouse, Mana unites artists’ studios, exhibition spaces, and ancillary services in a single location, facilitating conversation and collaboration among its burgeoning creative community. Together with its sister campuses in Chicago and Miami, Mana serves as a lively center for all members of the art world. Visitors receive unparalleled access to a range of art-making techniques and presentations first-hand. A transparent, comprehensive hub of creativity, Mana offers a profound, personal approach to contemporary art. Mana Contemporary is home to the Richard Meier Model Museum, Gary Lichtenstein Editions, Eileen S. Kaminsky Family Foundation, Armitage Gone! Dance, Keating Foundry, The Florence Academy of Art, Shen Wei Dance Arts, and many others. The tour of Mana Contemporary will include a private walk-through of current exhibitions, broad overview of Mana facilities, and a selection of artist studios.

Lunch
A pre-fixe lunch will be provided at a local seasonal restaurant. 

Newark Museum

With an introduction by Curator of Decorative Arts Ulysses Grant Dietz guests will enjoy a guided tour of selected highlights of the Museum followed by a docent tour of Museum’s renowned Tibetan Collection, which includes religious and lay pieces from 13th to 20th century. The Newark Museum is New Jersey’s largest museum that holds fine collections of American art, decorative arts, contemporary art, and arts of Asia, Africa, the Americas, and the ancient world.

TRIP NOTES

CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS: Participants may cancel their trip(s) up until Thursday, April 30, 2015. After that date, the full cost of the trip is non-refundable. The Museum of Arts and Design reserves the right to cancel the trip(s) if there are fewer than 15 participants or for unforeseeable circumstances. Upon reservation, participants assume responsibility for their physical abilities to travel and must notify the Museum of any health or physical conditions and/or allergies (including dietary restrictions) that may hinder their ability to fully participate in this trip.

RESERVATION AND ITINERARY POLICY: This trip is limited to 25 participants and reservations will be taken in order of receipt on a first-come, first-served basis. The itineraries provided are provisional. If any changes are made, be assured that the quality of the program will be maintained. The trip(s) include(s) transportation via private coach; pick-up and drop off at the Museum of Arts and Design; curatorial comment; lunch (alcohol is not included with any meals); gratuities; admission fees, administration costs; and tour preparation. We encourage you to wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the weather.

*Please note that we cannot guarantee an exact return time to the Museum of Arts and Design due to traffic and unforeseen road conditions. All participants will return to the Museum of Arts and Design. The coach cannot make stops before returning to the Museum.

Please review our health and safety protocols before you arrive. MAD strongly recommends all visitors six months and older are vaccinated against Covid-19 and visitors ages two and up wear face coverings, even if vaccinated. Thank you for your cooperation.
