Natural Dyeing with Local Plants

Sat, Aug 16, 2014

Community gardens are a staple of NYC, but did you know that many hold the possibility to change not only a neighborhood, but the color of what you wear? Join fiber artist and textile expert Isa Rodrigues for this afternoon-long, hands-on workshop that explores the possibilities of creating natural dyes from local plants. Students will learn the basics of dyeing with natural dyes, including how to extract color from plant materials and how to affix those colors to fiber, working exclusively with plants from the NYC bounty as sources of color.

Please review our health and safety protocols before you arrive. MAD strongly recommends all visitors six months and older are vaccinated against Covid-19 and visitors ages two and up wear face coverings, even if vaccinated. Thank you for your cooperation.
