In addition to Dia’s permanent holdings of artworks by some of the most significant artists from the last half century, including Louise Bourgeois, John Chamberlain, Dan Flavin, Donald Judd, Sol LeWitt, Richard Serra and Andy Warhol. Currently on view is a retrospective of Carl Andre, Sculpture as Place, 1958-2010. Emerging from the Greek prefix for “through,” Dia’s approach is founded on the idea of art as an active, self-determined experience. In keeping with the innovative and unconventional nature of the collection, the Dia experience fosters inquiry-based and multidisciplinary exploration while providing tools for critical engagement and direct exchange.
